[Global Issues]||[[Space Junk]

Since Thousands and Thousands of years, humans have been gazing at the stars and wondered "What's out there?". Yeah, the've built rockets and now they are exploring the space. 

But everything that humans get involved into gets polluted. No Offense. I mean the air got polluted, the water got polluted, and now the space too!! And today we will be talking about "Problems caused by space junk" and "What are the solutions"

Coming to the problems first ,Check out these Stats,

Yeah! Those are all the used Satellites and Rockets. There is a best part which is also the worst part. That is "The probability of Space Junk falling down to Earth is 1 in 5 billion. Space junk rarely comes down to Earth. You don't have to carry metal Umbrellas everywhere! That's the best part. And the worst part is, they're also not going to go out of the orbit. They're just gonna stay there and revolve in the orbit. You may think that these small objects cannot be harmful. But they are! The equation of kinetic energy is,

 [ K.E. = 1/2m v^2]  Considering this equation, the mass of the object might be small. But the speed at which this space junk revolves around the Earth is 8Km/s. Which concludes that no matter how small the object is, They're gonna posses high Kinetic Energy!

It is Said That "You can't start anything new if your hands are full of yesterday's Junk". This is very true in this case. If we don't find a way to clear up the space junk, The future generation may not be able to explore the space at all!!

The Kessler Syndrome

In the year 1978, A NASA scientist named, Donald.J.Kessler proposed a syndrome called "The Kessler Syndrome". It states that,(My own definition)

"The junk which is revolving around the Earth, It is going to collide each otherand increase the number of particles out there"

Solutions:-

Now What are the solutions?

1.Using NANO Satellites:-

It is already a mess out there. Instead of sending large satellites and increasing the space junk. We could apply "NANO Technology" and Reduce the scale. This method may not clear the existing Space Junk. But,  we could stop its increment. And These satellites already exists Check out this image to know how it looks like,

  ^{2. The Mayak Satellite by the university of Mechanical Engineering, Moscow:-}

^{This is really Impressive job by the students at the University of Moscow. The Mayak satellite is a self Destructing Satellite. After if gets used, It deploys itself into the Earth's Atmosphere and boom It disappears! No magic here. What happens is, It gets totally burnt because of the friction due to air. They say that when it falls down, It's going to be the Brightest Star in the sky!!}

 ^{3.The "Geo-Stationary Large Debri Re-Orbiter"(GLiDER):-}

As shown in the picture, This Debri Re-Orbiter is going to stay in an orbit and shoot electron pulses at the existing space junk and because of that everything gets negatively charged. So, when a positively charged object passes by, the opposite charges attract each other and everything gets collected at one place and then we can just push the collected junk out of orbit. It's that simple!

I guess everyone knows the quote, "Shoot for the moon even you miss, you're gonna land in one of the stars". If this problem continues,  People will be saying "Don't even try shootin' the moon. Space Junk's anyways gonna stop you!!"
